Sword Of Honor Returned After Seventeen YearsBy Kyle Meenan First Coast News Jacksonville, FL, USA 4/27/2007 Watch the KAIT TV news report:www.firstcoastnews.com/news/local/news-article.aspx?storyid=80973JACKSONVILLE, FL -- In August of 1990, Bill Brickey was a U.S. Marine passing through the First Coast. Brickey decided to spend the night at NAS Jacksonville, and that's where a thief went into his truck and stole a briefcase, cassette tapes, and his Marine Corps Officers Sword. Later that night, Donna Lewis was driving near the base when she spotted a leather sheath on the side of the road. It was Brickey's sword. But Lewis' best efforts to locate the sword's owner were to no avail. As the wife of a Marine, Lewis understood the importance of the sword and it wasn't until she discussed it one night with retired Marine Bill Hanson that the quest for it's owner came to light. Hanson knew if the sword's owner was listed on a website for former Marines to contact one another, he'd have a shot at getting it back to its rightful owner. It worked. After contacting Bill Brickey by phone, Donna Lewis sent him the sword this week. A grateful Brickey told reporters in Jonesboro it was better than any Christmas present he'd ever received.
