That could probably be best answered by our Divisional Chair, Aaron Clements. He occasionally checks this board. If I see him, I'll try to get him to pop in and say a few words.

On the fencing.net discussion board Aaron posted that it had been tabled (the move).
I honestly don't know ifthe division officers are talking about it anymore or not or if it's a big hush deal. Last I heard anything officail last year at our divisionals meeting where we voted. Was that Aaron was in charge of the movement and was sent to nationals to look into it. As far as I know there have been no reports or thoughts out of our division officers about it since then.
Because of this inaction I have gotten more invovled at the Section level this past year and I am going to try to be an officer of th RMS this next go around.

From what has been said, it has been tabled because of the possible reconstruction on USFA.

While there was some effort to work on moving Plains back to SWS last year, that effort went largely for naught for a variety of reasons, including difficulties in obtaining a response from the then-SWS chair to communications regarding the issue. I attended Nationals as a referee with the side agenda of talking to individuals whose assistance would be either helpful or instrumental in moving. After discussions with a number of folks, and with it apparent that a move would take some time because of the necessity of being on the BoD's agenda and likely (eventually) on the Congress and/or membership agenda, nothing further could be done at that point. I did have some discussions with Terry Harkey at the beginning of the fencing season about trying to get on the BOD agenda for the fall meeting; because of some of the discussions I had at Nationals, combined with the fact that I had five surgeries from August through September along with three months' of physical therapy thereafter (thank you, drunk drivers), the effort was tabled. My further discussions with several individuals indicates to me that moving at this time would likely be pointless, as the restructuring of the USFA is likely to occur within the next two to three years. It is my intent to encourage members of our division (particularly those in my club) to participate in events in the SWS, as transportation is much easier for us to events over there as opposed to RMS; however, I believe at this time that our interests as a division will likely be better served by staying where we are at the present, pending the outcome of the committee overseeing restructuring efforts. To everyone in SWS who pops in to read this, our division extends thanks to everyone who invited, encouraged, and/or supported efforts for us to move. If nothing else, we hope to see y'all fencing! As a side note to anyone in SWS with questions, if you're going to be at the SSCC tournament in Dallas this weekend, feel free to track me down, as I should be there refereeing. Aaron Clements PTDC
