The 9th Annual Amarillo Open Fencing Tournament is hosted by Amarillo College Fencing Association, the largest fencing club in the Texas panhandle. This is a Plains Texas - New Mexico Cup Tournament. Please note that the date of this tournament has been changed from February to October.

The Carter Fitness Center is directly across the street from the ACFA Fencing Salle on the corner of 24th and Washington.
ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING FOOD IN THE VENUE:
The Carter Fitness Center does not allow food and drink (other than water bottles) on the floor of the gym where the competition is being held. There will be an adjoining classroom where all food must be kept and consumed.
BOUT COMMITTEE
Gerrie Baumgart of the FOC will chair our bout committee for the 6th year in a row. Additional national level referees include Mark Stasinos, Jerry Benson, Amgad Badawi and David Sierra. There will be additional referees from the Plains Texas Division which may include Chuck Slaughter, Jay Young, Aaron Clements, Juleah Nusz, Jared Slaughter and more.
EVENTS SCHEDULED
Fencing will commence on each event as soon as possible after close of registration. Please arrive sufficiently early so you will be ready to fence when registration closes. The venue will be open at approximately 7:30 a.m. both days.

The event fees may be paid at the tournament.
$15 for each Senior Mixed Open Event
$10 for each Junior Mixed Open Event
$5 for each Youth 10-12 Event
USFA RULES
All USFA rules will be enforced in the tournament. Please bring proof of USFA membership or you will not be allowed to compete. New USFA membership applications will be available at the tournament.
COMPETITION FORMAT
Standard USFA pool format with 100 percent advancing to direct elimination, with no repechage.
AWARDS
In addition to medals being awarded to the top 8 fencers in each event, an additional prize will be awarded to each Gold Medal winner as well. The Gold Medal Winners in the Mixed Open Events will receive a katana. (See the bottom of this page for a detailed description of the 3 katanas.)
ARMORER
The tournament will have an armorer to check fencing equipment before each competition and to assist with equipment problems during the tournament.
HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS
There are many hotels in the Amarillo area that will fit your budget. Since we are currently unable to guarantee a certain number of rooms, we do not have a special rate arranged at any specific hotel. Virtually every national hotel chain is represented in Amarillo so you have lots of options.
BOX LUNCHES
For the convenience of those attending the tournament, you will be able to order a lunch each morning for approximately $7. Those lunches will be delivered around 12 noon. A bottle of water will come with the box lunch.
CONCESSIONS
There are vending machines in the venue. No other concessions will be available.
